• Snowfall at HHPC

Wow, the year is zooming by. We are back into Term 2 for Sing and Play on Tuesdays from 10.00am to 11.30am in our church halls. Our church lounge has bookings for a couple of groups on Tuesday and Thursday mornings now. The Craft group is on every 2nd and 4th Wednesday morning of the month from 10.00am to 11.30am and Bible study every 2 weeks on a Wednesday at 2.00pm. We have SAYGO in the lounge on Friday mornings and Amelias ballerinas back with us on Saturday mornings. Of course, we can’t forget the Op Shop open every Friday morning from 9.00am to 12.00pm. To finish the week off we have our church service on Sundays from 10.00am with morning tea and a chat afterward. We hope that you all as a community will join us with the many activities, we have available.

Sing and Play will have a break as we head towards the end of Term 1. The preschooler music and play fun time starts back on Tuesday 30th April for Term 2. Parents and caregivers are welcome to bring their preschoolers down to this great experience. The cost is $4 per family with morning tea proved.

Everyone is welcome.

Last year the majority was sent to the Ukraine.

Others enjoy card making and Diamond Art. New members are always welcome. Bring whatever you like to do in the way of crafts while enjoying a ‘cuppa’ and a chat. For more information phone Linda C on 03 322 4437.

If you cant make it today, then put it in your dairy for next Friday. We would love to see you.

One Week to go!!🎈

There is only one week to go before we open our community Op Shop. Our aim is to provide for the community, not to make a profit, so if there is something you need come on down and see if we have it.

It has been fantastic that we have had so many generous donations. Our volunteers have been working very hard sorting all of these and getting everything ready for our opening.

Friday 1st September is our open day, from 10.00am to 1.00pm. Put it on your calendar so you don’t forget. As we are solely run by volunteers we will only be open on Fridays and will only accept cash for the time being.

Please remember that we will always be looking for any good quality items that you no longer need. Any good donations will be accepted while the shop is open.😀

Hoon Hay Craft Group

We have a lovely bunch of people that are very crafty. Anything from knitting to making arty things, if you want to have a go or have a skill you think people would like, come on down to the church hall this Wednesday 23rd August at 10am (we are here every 2nd and 4th Wednesday of the month).

Our Op Shop opening Day is getting close and donations are still coming in. Got to love the community spirit as we couldn’t do it without you all. Please put our open day, Friday the 1st September in your Diary. We will be open from 10.00am to 1.00pm every Friday and are looking forward to seeing you there. All good quality and clean donations are gratefully accepted so think of us when you have that big cleanout.

August Op Shop update

Preparation for the opening of the Op Shop is coming along well. We are all so excited about this venture. Donations are coming in and shelves and racks are being filled. The opening date will be 1st September 2023

Now is the perfect time for a cleanout. We are wanting good quality clean clothing, shoes, linen, toys, books, accessories etc. Any donations of good clean quality will be gratefully accepted. Please, no electrical items or furniture.

Our church hall is open for donations to be dropped off every Friday from 10.00am to 1.00pm and Sunday mornings from 9.30am to 10.00am through August. If there are multiple items and people cannot get down to drop these off, we can arrange for a pickup. Please email leanne@hoonhaychurch.co.nz to organise a pick up. At this stage it will be a cash only Op Shop.

Saturday, 8th July 2023 – Exciting news

So, we have had a working bee at the church to make room for the displays and stands for our new OpShop. We will soon be asking for suitable items to sell. We are very excited about this new venture and would love to see the community get behind this.

Saturday, 31st October 2020 Our Third Annual Light Party.

Fun was had by all at this years event. A Jumble Sale joined our usual festivities of sausage sizzle, bouncy castle, treats and sack races.

This fantastic community event will be back next year. We look forward to seeing you!

‘Third Thursday’

Third Thursday was an event where we joined together in fellowship to enjoy an assortment of comedic episodes of classic shows from yester-year and share a light meal afterwards. On November 19th, in honour of Show Day we gathered in style and enjoyed a wonderful High Tea lunch.

Congratulations Josh & Rose, it was a pleasure to host your wedding and we wish you all the best for the years to come.

Blessing of the Blankets

This week the handiwork of our Craft Group was placed on display for blessing. The blankets in this photo have been lovingly crocheted and knit by members of our church and community.

‘Missions Without Borders: Operation Cover Up’, provide for people in Eastern Europe who cannot afford to buy a blanket or other items themselves. This includes children in orphanages, families, the elderly, disabled and sick, and the homeless. All the knitting is distributed in the six countries the Mission works in: Albania, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Moldova, Romania and Ukraine.
